IGO was formed by David A Groves in 2002, while taking teams on short-term mission trips to Belarus, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, Persian speaking countries, Mexico, and El Salvador. IGO has been involved in special projects during this time, including medical assistance, children's education, and literature distribution. IGO's purpose is to encourage and assist individuals and churches in fulfilling the Great Commission.
